Train Travel = Green Travel

Bikes on Board

In addition to being a fun and convenient alternative to driving along Northern California’s congested freeways, the Capitol Corridor provides one of the region’s most sustainable modes of transportation. Intercity passenger rail is far more energy efficient than car travel, and prevents millions of tons of harmful greenhouse gases from being emitted into the atmosphere each year. From on board recycling and energy-efficient amenities, to bike-friendly accommodations and environmentally friendly options in the Café Car, we’ve incorporated sustainability into every aspect of the Capitol Corridor experience. To learn more and calculate how much you can reduce your carbon footprint by traveling on the train, visit our Green Travel page.

Rider Tip: Remember to Recycle

Recycling

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we remind passengers to dispose of waste in the appropriate bins available on board. Need to discard your newspaper or beverage container? Simply place your papers, cans, and bottles in one of our on board recycling bins! Recycling bins are marked with a blue recycling symbol, and can be found next to the trash bins in the Café Car and most other cars. Thank you for helping us to keep our trains clean and green!
