Thanksgiving Holiday Service Information

Philip Krayna Service Alerts

Taking the Capitol Corridor is a great way to visit friends and family during the Thanksgiving holiday week. Keep in mind that this is also our busiest travel period, so you’ll want to plan your travel in advance to ensure a smooth and enjoyble experience. To accomodate the higher-than-normal ridership, particularly on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we’ll have extra seats available on our trains, and we’ll have staff and volunteers at many of the stations to assist with questions. As you make your plans for next week, we encourage you to read our Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Tips or watch some tips from Cappy.

Also, please be advised that train and bus service on Thanksgiving Day, and on Friday, November 28, will operate according to our Weekend/Holiday schedule.

For passengers using the Sacramento station . . .
Due to construction at the Sacramento Station, customers are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes early, as parking will be limited in the main lot, directly adjacent to the building. In addition, any customers using the station should plan to park at the Old Sacramento Parking garage, located southeast, at 2nd and I streets. This is to avoid congestion in the main parking lot, as a construction staging area has been set up on the western side of the building. The City is also encouraging passenger drop-offs during the holidays near 4th and I streets on the south side of I Street. This is the safest drop-off point for walking across the street and will reduce traffic congestion in the parking lot under construction. Click here for more details.

For passengers taking the bus to San Francisco . . .
On Thanksgiving day, bus service in San Francisco will be suspended at the Caltrain (SFP), Moscone Convention Center (SFM) and Shopping Center (SFS) stops from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the Turkey Trot event. Bus connections to the following trains may be affected:

  • Eastbound: 720 and 724
  • Westbound: 723

Passengers who normally access these stations can take the Market St. Muni subway or BART to Embarcadero, which is a short walk to the Ferry Building bus stop (SFC). The Muni fare is $2.00, and the BART fare from Powell or Civic Center is $1.85. Please allow enough travel time to transfer successfully to your Capitol Corridor train.

Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels!
