**********************************************************************
To raise awareness of the vital role rail plays in our nation's
transportation system, Amtrak is celebrating the first annual National
Train Day on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The date of National Train Day,
May 10, holds special meaning as it is the anniversary of the
completion of the first transcontinental railroad at Promontory Point,
Utah in 1869. At Promontory Point, the east coast and west coast were
connected for the first time by rail.

Capitol Corridor will celebrate National Train day locally, with

2. June Trackwork Project
**********************************************************************
In early June, Union Pacific will upgrade track infrastructure
(primarily railroad ties & bridges) between Martinez and
Suisun/Fairfield, installing approximately 40,000 new wood ties at
their own expense. This is the second installment of a multi-year
track upgrade project between Oakland and Sacramento, which will keep
the railroad in good condition so trains can operate reliably.

During the course of the track work, some morning and early afternoon
Capitol Corridor trains will not operate between Martinez and
Suisun/Fairfield. Instead, connecting busses will handle passengers
between those two stations, and trains will operate on the remainder
of the route on a modified schedule. Early morning and late
afternoon/evening trains should not be affected. At this point, the
modified schedule for the affected trains is still being developed.
More information will be announced when it becomes available.

**********************************************************************
3. BART Tickets
**********************************************************************
When you purchase a discounted BART ticket on board, make sure to keep
it away from magnets, which can demagnetize your ticket and make it
invalid!

Store your ticket away from these items that may contain magnets:
* bag/jewelry clasps
* mobile phones
* personal electronic devices such as PDAs, MP3 players, etc.

**********************************************************************
4. California Intercity Rail Video
**********************************************************************
On February 21, 2008, an "Intercity Passenger Rail Day" was held in
Sacramento to provide a forum for legislators, transportation
executives, corridor managers and elected officials to discuss
strategies to sustain and expand intercity passenger service. The
Chairs of all four intercity passenger rail corridors spoke on the
benefits and challenges of rail and urged all legislators to commit to
providing an annual stream of funding to sustain and improve the
state's passenger rail system.

As part of the educational program for legislators and executives,
CCJPA produced a video to showcase the successes of the State of
California's 18-year investment in passenger rail, featuring the
Capitol Corridor, Pacific Surfliner, and San Joaquin rail lines. The
Capitol Corridor has hosted a copy of this educational video on our
website for passengers to view.

Please be advised that the video will load for 10 seconds before
playing (length: 10 minutes).

Union Pacific will be conducting a track replacement project at the
Davis station this weekend. In order to minimize delays to
passengers, most of the work will be performed overnight; however,
some evening and morning trains may be affected. This work will impact
Capitol Corridor train service to/from Davis and Sacramento with
potential 15-20 minute delays due to trains using the Davis wye to
load/unload passengers and change ends. Your patience, understanding
and cooperation are appreciated.

1. Fare Increase- Effective November 13, 2007
2. Veterans Day/ Thanksgiving Week Service

**********************************************************************
1. Fare Increase- Effective November 13, 2007
**********************************************************************
Effective November 13, there will be a 3% fare increase for all
Capitol Corridor travel. We don't like increasing fares any more than
you do, but this relatively modest increase will help supplement the
limited financial support we receive from the state budget allocation.
However, with the regular, relatively small fare increases we make,
we are able to continue to deliver a quality service to you. Our
fares, especially the multi-ride ticket prices, are more than
competitive with costs for auto travel on a cost-per-mile basis, and
we want to keep them that way.	Every dollar of increased revenue is
reinvested into your service.

**********************************************************************
2. Veterans Day/ Thanksgiving Week Service
**********************************************************************
Capitol Corridor will operate on a regular Weekday schedule on
Monday, November 12, Veterans Day. Capitol Corridor will run a
Weekend/Holiday schedule on Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November
23, 2007.

1. New Timetable- October 29, 2007
**********************************************************************
New Capitol Corridor schedules go into effect on Monday, October 29,
2007. There are no changes to train times, but several adjustments
and changes have been made to the connecting bus schedules. The new
printed schedules will be available today, or you can visit the
Capitol Corridor website to download a copy of the new schedule.

**********************************************************************
2. Capitol Corridor ridership keeps growing!
**********************************************************************
Capitol Corridor carried more than 1.4 million passengers in FY07, a
15 percent increase over the same period last year.

"We want to attract new riders on the train and get drivers off the
highways. When we see that our ridership numbers grow every month, we
know we're accomplishing that goal," said Forrest Williams, Chair of
the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority. "For people who value how
they spend their time, the train offers a better alternative than
sitting in traffic."

CCJPA wants to thank you, our riders, for helping us reach
record-breaking ridership month after month, and year after year!

      Capitol Corridor News - September 7, 2007

1. Sacramento Station - Temporary Weekend Parking Changes
2. Highway 17 Express Bus Adjusts Schedule

-----------------------------------------------------------

1. Sacramento Station Temporary Weekend Parking Changes
Sep 8 - Oct 7, 2007 (Weekends only)

The City of Sacramento Department of Transportation is adding more
parking stalls and making several other improvements for our customers
at the Sacramento Valley Station. Starting in the early morning on
Saturday, September 08, the 5th Street entrance and the east side of
the parking lot will be closed to begin construction for five
consecutive weekends. Construction will take place only on weekends to
minimize inconvenience to depot parkers.

Drivers will be directed to use the 2nd Street parking lot entrance
via detour signage. The full parking lot will re-open each Monday
morning to commuters. See the full schedule for the closures.

The Sacramento Valley Station project includes the addition of parking
lot lights, angled parking, an additional 20 parking stalls, slurry
seal, traffic flow improvements, and passenger drop-off and pick-up
enhancements. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the
first week of October.
