Weekend Event Picks: Lunar New Year Celebration, Giants Fan Fest, Valentine’s Day Chocolate Fun

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, Lunar New Year, San Francisco City Hall’s 100th birthday, or the San Francisco Giants, you can get to the festivities on the Capitol Corridor!

San Francisco City Hall’s Artist in Residence Show: San Francisco, February 12

In celebration of San Francisco City Hall’s 100th birthday, internationally-renowned artist and San Francisco native Jeremy Fish created 100 original drawings for an exhibition titled “O Glorious City,” on display in City Hall. Friday marks the final day of this unique exhibition, which is free to the public and will be open from 8am to 8pm. To get there, take the Capitol Corridor to the Richmond or Oakland Coliseum station, connect to BART, and get off at the Civic Center/UN Plaza stop.

Fourth St. Lunar New Year Celebration: Berkeley, February 13

Come to Fourth St. in Berkeley on Saturday to usher in the Year of the Monkey with Lunar New Year festivities including traditional lion dancing, a martial arts street performance by Golden Lion Martial Arts, candy giveaways, special activities like paper lantern and origami making at participating shops, store blessings, and more. The fun lasts from 12pm to 4pm, and afterwards you can enjoy dinner or shopping at one of the many great restaurants or boutiques on Fourth St. Take the train to the Berkeley Station, and you’ll be steps from it all.

KNBR Giants Fan Fest 2016: San Francisco, February 13

Baseball lovers, make your way to AT&T Park this Saturday for the 23rd Annual Giants Fan Fest, hosted by KNBR. From 10am to 3pm, this free event will include live KNBR broadcasts on the field; player Q&A’s and free autographs from the likes of Madison Bumgarner, Buster Posey, and Matt Cain; a kids zone; food and drinks; sponsor booths; and more. And of course, the Giants’ World Series trophies will be on display for viewing and photo ops! To get to this baseball extravaganza, take Capitol Corridor’s dedicated connecting bus from Emeryville to the Caltrain Depot, which is just a few blocks from AT&T Park. Or you can connect to BART at the Richmond or Oakland Coliseum Station, get off at the Embarcadero stop, and walk or hop on Muni.

Rosenblum Cellars Valentine’s Day Chocolate Event: Oakland Jack London, February 13-14

Head to Jack London Square this weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day with some chocolate dipping fun at Rosenblum Cellars. With a chocolate fountain courtesy of Chocolate Ribbons and an assortment of goodies for pairing, you can dip to your heart’s desire with the purchase of a glass of wine or tasting flight between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. To get there, take the Capitol Corridor to the Oakland Jack London Station, which is a short and scenic stroll to the Rosenblum Cellars tasting room.
