Weekend Event Picks: St. Patrick’s Day, Asian American Festival, and Macy’s Flower Show

Whether you’re celebrating St. Patrick’s Day or the coming of spring, there’s plenty to do this weekend along the Capitol Corridor!

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party: 3/17, San Francisco

On Thursday, head to San Francisco to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at a festive block party hosted by the Irish Bank Bar and Restaurant, an authentic Irish pub in the heart of downtown. There will be plenty of beer and delicious food, plus a music lineup featuring Paddy’s Orchestra, The Shams, and DJ Marc Van Brabant. The event will last from 2pm to midnight and costs $10 at the door. To get there, take Capitol Corridor’s dedicated connecting bus from Emeryville to the SF Shop Center stop, which is less than half a mile from the venue. Or, take the Capitol Corridor train to the Richmond Station or Oakland Coliseum Station, connect to BART, and get off at the Montgomery stop, also less than half a mile away. Irish-American Crossroads Festival: 3/4-4/3, San Francisco

Catch the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day at the 2016 Irish-American Crossroads Festival, a celebration of Irish and Irish-American history and culture. Now in its 13th year, this annual event will feature a variety of events at locations across San Francisco, including traditional musical and dance performances, film screenings, book launches, workshops, walking tours, poetry readings, forums, and more. CAAMFest: 3/10-3/20, Oakland, San Francisco

This weekend, enjoy Asian American film, music, and food at CAAMFest 2016, hosted by the Center for Asian American Media. The second weekend of the 11-day festival will feature screenings, musical performances, cocktail gatherings, and more at a host of beautiful venues in Oakland and San Francisco, including the Oakland Museum of California, the Asian Art Museum, the Castro Theater, the Alamo Drafthouse, and the Roxie Theater. Macy’s Flower Show: 3/20-4/3, San Francisco

Make your way to San Francisco this Sunday to welcome spring at the opening day of the Macy’s Flower Show in Union Square. The theme of this year’s free annual event is “America the Beautiful,” and will pay tribute to the nation’s majestic natural landscapes. This celebration of flowers, food, and music has a full slate of events that can be viewed online, including performances, demos, tours, food samplings, workshops, family activities, and more. To get there, take Capitol Corridor’s dedicated connecting bus from Emeryville to the SF Shop Center stop, which is less than a third of a mile from the venue. Or, take the Capitol Corridor train to the Richmond Station or Oakland Coliseum Station, connect to BART, and get off at the Montgomery stop.
