Weekend Picks: Holiday Boat Parade, Santa Beer Crawl, & Seasonal Fun in Berkeley

The holiday fun continues this weekend along the Capitol Corridor!

Holiday Boat Parade: 12/11, San Francisco

Head to Fisherman’s Wharf on Friday evening from 6-8pm for the Lighted Holiday Boat Parade, a festive event featuring over 60 boats decorated for the holidays with lights and more. Now in its 11th year, the parade will include members of the Golden Gate Yacht Club, Sea Scouts, St. Francis Yacht Club, Fisherman’s Wharf Fishing Fleet, and Pier 39 Marina, who will make their way from Pier 39 to Crissy Field and back. Pier 39 is not only the ideal viewing spot for the parade, but also has a number of wonderful restaurants that will be serving traditional holiday menus. To get there, take the Capitol Corridor train to Emeryville for dedicated bus service to the Pier 39 bus stop.


Santa Beer Crawl: 12/12, Martinez

On Saturday, make your way to Downtown Martinez from for the annual Santa Beer Crawl, where you’ll join a crew of Santas as they make their way along Main St. and sample beers from more than 20 craft breweries. Participants are encouraged to wear Santa costumes and ugly holiday sweaters to this jolly 21+ event, which will take place from 2:30-5:30pm. Tickets can be purchased online in advance, and will also be available at the door if not sold out. To get to the fun, take the train to the Martinez station, which is steps from Main St.


Jack of All Trades Market: 12/12, Oakland

Head to Oakland on Saturday for a lively experience and great holiday shopping at the Jack of All Trades Market, which will host a unique array of local makers, artists, designers, antiquers, and collectors, plus DIY workshops, live music, and food and craft beer. This admission-free event will take place from 11am to 5pm along the water at Jack London Square. Take the train to the Oakland Jack London station, and you’ll be a quick stroll from the action.

Holiday Weekends at Fourth Street: 12/12-12/13, Berkeley

Make a trip to Berkeley this weekend for holiday shopping and fun beneath Fourth Street’s dazzling lights. In honor of the season, each weekend will include holiday music and extended hours at Fourth Street’s many great shops. And for the next two weekends only, you can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus across from Peet’s Coffee from 12-4pm. If you’re looking for a way to get into the holiday spirit, be sure to bring along your new and gently used books, as a number of local businesses will be collecting holiday book donations for Berkeley preschools. To get to Fourth St., take the train to the Berkeley station, which is less than a block away.
