Weekend Picks: Holiday Fun for the Whole Family, Plus Pac-12 Championship Football

There’s a lot of holiday fun coming up this weekend, and you can get to it all on the Capitol Corridor!

Jack London Square Holiday Pop Up: 12/4, Oakland

On Friday evening, Jack London Square will boast a holiday extravaganza with 70 local artisans selling holiday gifts, live entertainment from local musicians, wine samples from Morey Cellars, and more. The Holiday Pop Up at Jack London Square will run from 5pm to 9pm and culminate with a tree-lighting along the waterfront, and best of all, it’s free! Simply take the Capitol Corridor to the Oakland Jack London Station, and you’re there. The last train to Sacramento departs Jack London at 10:15pm, and the last train to San Jose leaves at 7:33pm.


Holiday Frolic and Snow Park: 12/4 – 12/6, Martinez

Head to downtown Martinez from Friday through Sunday for the Holiday Frolic and Snow Park, a winter wonderland featuring real snow and family-friendly holiday activities including a snow play area, a meet and greet with Santa Claus, a light parade, and more. You can also visit the DC Solar Downtown Holiday Ice Rink, located at the corner of Marina Vista Ave. and Ferry St., for some skating fun! Take the train to the Martinez Station, and you’ll be steps from Main St.


Christmas at the Waterfront: 12/5, Suisun/Fairfield

On Saturday, make your way to Suisun City for Christmas at the Waterfront, a festive holiday tradition the whole family will enjoy. From 2 to 8pm at Harbor Plaza, you’ll find 50 artisan vendors selling holidays gifts and goodies, a bonfire, live holiday music, horse-drawn wagon rides, and wine by the glass. Be sure to stick around for the lighted boat parade at 5:15pm, to be followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree and visits with Santa! To get to the fun, take the train to the Suisun/Fairfield station, which is just a short walk to the Waterfront District.


Pac-12 Championship Game: 12/5, Santa Clara, Great America

Football fans, you can take the Capitol Corridor to Levi’s Stadium on Saturday for post-season action at the Pac-12 Championships, where the Stanford Cardinal will take on the University of Southern California Trojans at 4:45pm. The train makes for fun and easy game-day travel, plus you can enjoy pre- and post-game refreshments in the Café Car. Tickets for the game can still be purchased online! To get to Levi’s Stadium, take the train to the Santa Clara/Great America station, which is a quick five-minute walk to the stadium entrance.
