CAPITOL CORRIDOR TO EXPAND TRAIN SERVICE FOR HOLIDAY TRAVELERS

CCJPA TO RUN LONGER HOURS, SERVE MORE STATIONS & ADD RAIL CARS
OAKLAND, CA November 20, 2008 — Today, the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority announced that on Wednesday, November 26, it will expand its normal weekday service to accommodate the expected influx of passengers who travel by train the day before Thanksgiving. To encourage passengers to ride after the peak holiday travel hours–noon to 6:00 p.m.–Capitol Corridor will expand its evening service for one day only.
On Wednesday, November 26, Capitol Corridor will run extended train service between the Sacramento (SAC) and San Jose (SJC) stations. Train 551, which departs SAC at 7:40 p.m., and Train 553, which departs SAC at 9:10 p.m., will both stop at all stations between Sacramento and San Jose, giving passengers who travel from Sacramento to the Bay Area additional evening travel options.
AVOID THE RUSH
Busiest travel days are Wednesday before and Sunday after Thanksgiving. If traveling on Wednesday, ride before noon or after 6:00 p.m. CCJPA officials urge passengers to purchase tickets in advance. You can buy online at Amtrak.com, at QuikTrak ticket vending machines, or at ticket windows at staffed stations. Passengers should allow plenty of time at stations prior to departure – at least 45 minutes before if tickets need to be picked up.
