Ticket Scan Testing Notice on Amtrak Bus Connection between Emeryville & San Francisco

Starting Tuesday, August 19th, Amtrak & Capitol Corridor will be testing upgraded ticket (eMD’s) scanners on bus connections between Emeryville & San Francisco. Using a new operating system and software, the upgraded scanners improve performance and scan tickets correctly. The software upgrade also fixes an issue from earlier in the year when the scanner software was causing rides to be deducted incorrectly. The enhancements to the scanners and software have been made to meet the demands of rush hour multi-ride ticket scanning.

A scanning test will be done at Emeryville and San Francisco for all ticket types on the following dates:

To help expedite the ticket scanning process, it is important that each rider has his or her ticket in hand ready for scanning by the bus driver. For those presenting their eTickets on mobile devices, please ensure your device’s brightness is set to full brightness.

Following an evaluation of the test results, Capitol Corridor and Amtrak will announce a date on which drivers will begin scanning all ticket types.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
