Countdown to Positive Train Control

The Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) is pleased to announce that we are set to achieve an important safety milestone. During the week of July 16, our train operator (Amtrak) and host railroad (Union Pacific), will begin field testing Positive Train Control, or PTC, to ensure that this important safety technology operates in compliance with federal rules and regulations. If the testing proceeds without significant operational issues, PTC will be launched on a few select Capitol Corridor trains during the week of July 23.
