We have good news on the ticket front! Passengers who purchase a Capitol Corridor 10-ride ticket on or after June 23, 2020, now have 60 days, instead of 45, from the ticket start date to complete up to 10 one-way trips between the origin and destination stations indicated on their ticket.
Why We Made This Change
We originally designed our 10-ride ticket for people who use the service on a fairly regular basis, but not necessarily every day. Assuming all 10 rides are used within the travel window, customers save about 30% compared to purchasing a single one-way or round-trip ticket.
The Capitol Corridor’s 10-ride ticket is a popular fare option, and riders have often asked us to extend the travel window for more flexibility. Today, with many of our customers working from home due to COVID-19 and uncertain about what their commute schedule will look like going forward, flexibility is even more important. Recognizing that some of you may be traveling less frequently and regularly in the foreseeable future, we made the decision to make our 10-ride ticket valid for 15 extra days.
Fares for the 10-ride ticket will remain the same, and any tickets previously purchased with a 45-day period will be valid for the length of time purchased.
Other Capitol Corridor Discounts
The Capitol Corridor offers a number of other discount ticket options. Our monthly ticket, which is popular with business commuters, allows unlimited service between designated stations during the period of one calendar month. Students can save 25% on travel when they purchase a six-ride student ticket good for six one-way trips within a one-year period.
For single ticket purchases, we offer a 15% California Everyday Discount to seniors, students, active military, veterans, and persons with disabilities; an everyday Friends & Family discount for groups of up to six travelers; as well as seasonal and destination-specific promotions.
