Gear Up for Bike Month 2019!

April 29, 2019

There are many sustainable and enjoyable alternatives to driving; the Capitol Corridor is one, and biking is another— together, they’re a match made in heaven! We have long offered bike-friendly accommodations on board our trains, and more recently expanded convenient bike storage at our stations as well. One in ten Capitol Corridor riders also rides a bike as part of their travel, and that number is growing! In May, we demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the Northern Californian biking community at Bike to Work Day events on board our trains and along the route.

Capitol Bike Fest

On Thursday, May 9, Capitol Corridor staff will be in Sacramento at the Capitol Bike Fest. We’ll be among dozens of organizations providing information on bicycles, rides, fitness, public transit, and more. The event takes place from 11am to 1pm on the West Lawn of the State Capitol, at 10th St. and Capitol Ave. If you’re in the area, come out for some free goodies, including a chance to win Oakland A’s tickets!

Onboard Cappy Hour

On the same day (Thursday, May 9), join us for the only in-transit Bike to Work Day Happy Hour— or, as we like to call it, “Cappy Hour”! The Café Car will be serving discounted drinks on all trains in service from 3pm to 8pm. Plus, on Eastbound Train 538 (between San Jose-Diridon and Martinez) and Westbound Train 545 (between Sacramento and Oakland Jack London Square), Capitol Corridor staff will be providing complimentary food and fun giveaways, as well as the opportunity to talk to us about bikes, trains, and anything else related to our service!
