Winter Weather Update: Sierra Bus Service Resumes on Tuesday, December 3

Connecting bus service to/from Reno and South Lake Tahoe will will resume on Tuesday, December 3, with buses expected to make all scheduled stops. Passengers should expect delays due to chain requirements.

Due to continuing winter storm conditions in the Sierra, the following changes will take place for Capitol Corridor bus connections on Monday, December 2.

South Lake Tahoe – Sacramento:

  • Bus 3424 will operate from Sacramento (SAC) to Placerville (PCV) only. Service to South Lake Tahoe (SLT), Stateline Nevada (SLN), and Stateline Transit Center (SLH) is cancelled.
  • Bus 3447 will operate from Placerville (PCV) to Sacramento (SAC) only. Service from South Lake Tahoe (SLT), Stateline Nevada (SLN), and Stateline Transit Center (SLH) is cancelled.

Reno – Sacramento:

  • Buses 3524, 3578, and 3534 will operate from Sacramento (SAC) to Auburn (ARN) only, with stops at Roseville (RSV) and Rocklin (RLN). Service to Colfax (COX), Truckee (TRU), Reno (RNO), and Sparks (SPX) is cancelled.
  • Buses 3537, 3543, and 3549 will operate from Auburn (ARN) to Sacramento (SAC) only. Service from Sparks (SPX), Reno (RNO), Truckee (TRU), and Colfax (COX) is cancelled.

Due to winter weather, the following changes will take place for Capitol Corridor bus connections on Sunday, December 1.

South Lake Tahoe – Sacramento Connection:

  • Buses 3474 and 3447 will operate between Sacramento (SAC) and Placerville (PCV) only. Service to South Lake Tahoe (SLT), Stateline Nevada (SLN), and Stateline Transit Center (SLH) is cancelled.

Reno – Sacramento Connection:

  • Buses 3574, 3578, 3534 will operate Sacramento (SAC) – Auburn (ARN) only, with stops at Roseville (RSV) and Rocklin (RLN). Service to Colfax (COX), Truckee (TRU), Reno (RNO), and Sparks (SPX) are cancelled.
  • Buses 3537, 3543, 3599 will operate Auburn (ARN) to Sacramento (SAC) only. Update Wednesday, 11/27/19 at 5:30pm

Connecting bus service at stops east of Auburn towards Reno and South Lake Tahoe will resume on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28 after today’s cancellations.

Another storm is expected to come in on Saturday, and we will be closely monitoring the situation and providing updates. Should more cancellations occur, passengers who are booked on impacted buses will be notified by Amtrak.

Due to the continuing winter storm conditions in the Sierra, connecting bus service between Auburn and Reno and Auburn and South Lake Tahoe has been cancelled today, Wednesday, November 27. This includes service to/from Colfax, Truckee, Reno, and Sparks. Passengers booked on the impacted buses below have been notified.

– Buses 3537 and 3543 will operate only between Auburn and Sacramento. (including Roseville and Rocklin)

– Buses 3524, 3578, and 3534 will operate only between Sacramento and Auburn. (including Roseville and Rocklin)

Due to severe winter weather and road conditions during Thanksgiving week, passengers using connecting bus service between Auburn and Reno and Auburn and South Lake Tahoe may experience delays and even cancellations. We are encouraging passengers travelling to and from these regions to delay their travel until after the storms pass as weather and road conditions can change at a moment’s notice.
