World War II veteran, Don Güt, and his companions from the Widowed Persons Social Club of Elk Grove snagged the premier spot aboard Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidential yacht, the USS Potomac, for the annual November 11 Veterans Day cruise on the San Francisco Bay. The group started out their day from the Sacramento Station and rode the Capitol Corridor to Jack London Square in Oakland, where the Potomac has been docked and open to visitors since 1995. Make Way! New Charger Locomotives Coming Through

New “Charger” locomotives are now taking the lead for the Capitol Corridor fleet in Northern California. Built locally by Siemens in Sacramento and meeting the federal “100% Made In America” requirements, a total of six new locomotives were first introduced in April 2017 at the California Passenger Rail Summit in Sacramento, and have gone through extensive testing and are now in revenue service.
