Show your patriotism this Veterans Day weekend by honoring vets and military personnel at a parade in San Jose or a steam train ride in Sacramento. Other activities along the Capitol Corridor include Oakland’s Jack of All Trades Market and a Discovery Day Science Festival at AT&T Park in San Francisco. Remember everyday veterans save 15% and active-duty personnel save 10% on their travel along the Capitol Corridor!
New “Charger” locomotives are now taking the lead for the Capitol Corridor fleet in Northern California. Built locally by Siemens in Sacramento and meeting the federal “100% Made In America” requirements, a total of six new locomotives were first introduced in April 2017 at the California Passenger Rail Summit in Sacramento, and have gone through extensive testing and are now in revenue service. “It was a beautiful day. The train was a small train – a locomotive I think, with no more than three or four cars, single level.” explained Hubert Hanrahan, Capitol Corridor’s retired Chief Transportation Officer who, in December 1991, was a conductor on board the Capitol Corridor’s very first run. “The rest is history,” he went on to reflect. “It’s been very successful.”
