Three transportation improvement projects have been selected for the next implementation phase of the Placer-Sacramento Action Plan (PSAP). These projects will incorporate passenger rail corridor enhancements, and public transit investments to benefit the region.

  • Sacramento Valley Station Mobility Center Phase 3: Establishment of a 31-acre, world-class intermodal complex to serve Capitol Corridor passenger rail trains, commuter/local buses, and Sac RT light rail trains.
  • Sacramento to Roseville Third Track Project Phase 1: Addition of a third rail line between Sacramento and Roseville to increase transit ridership and freight capacity.
  • Elvas Bridge Replacement at SR-51 (Capital City Freeway): Construction of three new railroad bridges to enhance passenger and freight rail operations.

Related Santa Clara wants to Hear from you!

Related Santa Clara is excited to share its preliminary design for the East Neighborhood Park, a nearly 4.5-acre public park conveniently located near the transit center, which will serve the Santa Clara community. Related Santa Clara would appreciate you taking part in a brief survey. It will only take a few minutes and offers the opportunity to give input on which activities and features you would like the park to feature.Ā Take the survey!

California Clean Air Day – October 5

Capitol Corridor is joining hundreds of organizations to celebrateĀ California Clean Air DayĀ leading up to and onĀ Wednesday, October 5th. California Clean Air Day encourages individuals, businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to take action to improve air quality and protect public health by inviting people to pledge to make a different and uniting to take action.

We can all join the effort by taking the Clean Air Day Pledge and committing to clear the air by taking action. Clean Air Day organizers reported that last year 1.8 million people across California took approximately 3.4 million actions to help improve air quality.Ā  Examples of activities for those who take the Pledge include plant a home garden or plant at a community garden, switch to using natural all-purpose cleaner, buy produce locally, or by taking other actions. You can take the pledge here:Ā Ā Take the Clean Air Pledge – California Clean Air Day

————-

Original post (9/12/22): Please be advised that a labor strike impacting the nation’s freight railroads appears increasingly likely later this week. In the event of a railroad strike, service on the Capitol Corridor is expected to be suspended as early as Thursday, September 15, 2022, with no known date for resumption of service. Due to the widespread impact of a potential strike across our service route, we will not be able to establish bus bridges during this event but will keep you informed of alternative options. We advise that you plan on alternate transportation for travelĀ starting on Thursday, September 15th.

We are hopeful that all parties will come to an agreement without any interruption in service, however, we also understand that you need to be aware of this possibility to make informed plans about your travel later this week.

Currently, the nation’s Class I freight carriers, including Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), are in dispute with their unions and are in negotiations. If a strike is called, freight and passenger operations on corridors managed by freight railroads would cease, including the UPRR lines on which Capitol Corridor operates. The potential duration of a labor action is unknown, but given the national disruption that this will cause, our hope is that resolution would occur relatively quickly. Our ability to resume service will depend on the duration of the strike. Please watch our website (capitolcorridor.org) and social media channels for updates.

In the event of an actual strike, we will provide an announcement and will provide more details as we are able. Please share this information with your fellow riders. We encourage all riders to sign up for our email/text message updates or to follow us on Twitter. Thank you.

New Ten-Ride for 90-Days Ticket

August 8, 2022

Ten-rides just got more flexible! On August 1, 2022, we extended the life of our ten-ride tickets from 60 days to 90 days! Now, passengers will have 90 daysĀ from the ticketĀ startĀ dateĀ to complete up to 10Ā one-way trips between theĀ origin and destinationĀ stationsĀ indicated on theirĀ ticket.

Why We Made This Change
Our 10-ride ticket is ideal for people who use the service regularly, but not necessarily every day.Ā If you use all the rides within theĀ travel window, you’llĀ saveĀ about 30%Ā compared to purchasing a single one-way or round-trip ticket.

With many customers shifting to hybrid work schedules over the past two years, we realized that putting this kind ofĀ flexibility in place might be helpful. FaresĀ for the 10-ride ticketĀ will remain the same, and any tickets previously purchased with a 60-day period will be valid for the length of time purchased.
