The Capitol Corridor has long provided bike-friendly accommodations on board our trains and promoted biking as a complement to our service. Both biking and train travel provide more sustainable and enjoyable alternatives to driving, and the combination of the two allows for an even better travel experience! On Thursday, May 12, Capitol Corridor will demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the biking community at various Bike to Work Day events on board our trains and along the route.
On Board Bike to Work Day “Cappy Hour”
Capitol Corridor will host an official Bike to Work Day Happy Hour (or as we like to call it, “Cappy Hour”), featuring discounted drinks on board all trains in service between 4pm and 8pm. Plus, on Train 542 between San Jose and Oakland Jack London and Train 543 between Sacramento and Oakland Jack London, we’ll have complimentary food (as long as it lasts) and giveaways in the Café Car while supplies last! Staff will also be on hand to answer your questions about bringing your bike on board the Capitol Corridor. As always, bikes are welcome on board, and can be stored in the bike racks on the lower level or in the large storage areas of the bike cars (there are normally two bike cars per train). To learn more about bringing bikes on the Capitol Corridor, visit the Bikes On Board page on our website.
Capitol Bike Fest in Sacramento
On the same day, members of the Capitol Corridor staff will be in Sacramento to at the Capitol Bike Fest. We’ll be one of over 40 exhibits providing information on bicycle safety, upcoming rides and events, fitness, transit, and more. The event will take place from 11am to 1pm on the West Lawn of the State Capitol, at 10th St. and Capitol Ave. If you’re in the area, be sure to pay us a visit!
