BART Station

Richmond BART Station to Close on Select Weekends January-March 2021

January 11, 2021

During the weekend of Saturday, January 16, through Monday, January 18, 2021, – and on select weekends through March – the Richmond BART Station will be closed due to a critical track replacement project.

This BART closure will not impact Capitol Corridor train service at the Richmond Station; however, during the closure weekends, Capitol Corridor passengers who normally transfer to and from BART at the Richmond Station, will need to make alternate arrangements for travel between the East Bay and San Francisco.

Passengers may take the Capitol Corridor train to the Emeryville Station and use our dedicated, connecting transbay bus service to the Salesforce Transit Center in downtown San Francisco.

During the work periods, BART, in partnership with AC Transit, is providing a free bus bridge between Richmond BART and El Cerrito del Norte BART. Riders who take this option should plan to add 15 to 20 minutes to their trips.

Passengers can also connect to BART at the Oakland Coliseum Station, which is about a half an hour from the Richmond Station.

Ferry service to San Francisco can also be accessed at Jack London Square, which is a short walk from the Capitol Corridor’s Oakland Jack London Square Station. Ferry schedules are less frequent than BART and travel will require a separate ferry ticket. Visit the San Francisco Bay Ferry for schedule and fare information.

Additional BART Station Closure Weekends

The work will require track closures at the Richmond BART Station for five weekends January through March starting with the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The shutdown weekends will be January 16-18, January 30-31, February 13-15, February 27-28, and March 13-14.
