Chronicle Books and CRAFT Magazine Sponsor Onboard Event to Knitting Convention

Oakland, CALIF., February 15, 2007 – On Saturday, February 24, 2007 Capitol Corridor, Chronicle Books, and CRAFT magazine invite knitters, crocheters and craft lovers on board train 727 for the 4th Stitch ‘n Ride(tm) event to Stitches West 2007 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
The Stitch ‘n Ride train will be a non-stop “knitfest” – with prize drawings and goody bags that will include gifts from Lion Brand Yarn, CRAFT magazine, and Chronicle Books (while supplies last) – all the way from Sacramento to the doors of Stitches West at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Stitch ‘n Ride passengers can take advantage of a 10% discount on the lowest available fare for travel to and from Santa Clara from February 22-25, 2007, available on the Capitol Corridor website.
“Knitting is a really portable hobby – we see that more and more of our riders have discovered how easy it is to bring their knitting or crochet projects on board,” explains Priscilla Kalugdan, Marketing Manager for the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority.
Forrest Williams, Chair of the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority Board agrees, “Stitch ‘n Ride encourages knitters and crocheters to ditch the traffic and hop aboard the train so they can enjoy more hobby time and catch up with friends.”

Stitch ‘n Ride Success Continues

“Last year, we had more than 150 people take the Stitch n’ Ride train, and they’ve been asking about 2007 plans since last October,” continues Kalugdan.
Enthuses Sandi Benward, 2007 President of the Sacramento Stitching Guild, “The Stitch n’ Ride train is one of the most happily anticipated events of the year. Hundreds of knitters converge with one goal in mind: knitting while riding to the Stitches West convention. New friends being made, new projects being started – everyone dreaming of the new yarns they will purchase. With happy knitters, goody bags, and prizes, it’s like a little slice of heaven!”
Summing it up best is Beth Callahan, a Stitch n’ Ride participant for three years, “Stitch & Ride is the very best way to get to the Stitches West convention. No traffic jams, no parking problems, no toll bridges: everyone just relaxes with friends while chatting and knitting. If we had to drive, we probably wouldn’t bother to go.”
