CAPITOL CORRIDOR TRACKWORK PROJECT SERVICE ADVISORY

Linsey Ettlin Press Releases

Temporary Schedule Changes in June
Beginning Tuesday, June 3, 2008, Union Pacific will be conducting trackwork that will significantly impact Capitol Corridor service until the work is done, which is expected to be on June 28, 2008. During the course of the track work, some morning and early afternoon Capitol Corridor trains will not operate between Martinez and Suisun/Fairfield. Instead, connecting buses will carry passengers between those two stations, and trains will operate on the remainder of the route on a modified schedule. Normal service is scheduled to resume on Thursday, June 29, 2008.
THE PROJECT
Union Pacific (UP) will upgrade track infrastructure (primarily railroad ties & bridges) between Benicia (North of Martinez) and Suisun/Fairfield. UP will install approximately 40,000 new wood ties at their own expense. This is the second installment of a multi-year track upgrade project between Oakland and Sacramento that will keep the railroad in good condition so trains can operate reliably.
