City of Sacramento Parking & Exit project – begins April 2nd

Linsey Ettlin News Archive, Service Alerts

The Capitol Corridor has been advised that starting on Monday April 2, 2012, construction will begin at the Sacramento Valley Station to create a new vehicle exit and pedestrian cross walk at 4th and I street. This 4 month project will conclude at the end of July and will greatly ease the traffic flow at the station parking lot and allow vehicles to turn left from the parking lot onto the North and Southbound on ramps to I-5, as well as provide a traffic light and safe route for train riders to and from the Old Town Sacramento Parking Structure.

During this time, efforts will be made to limit the impact to train passengers, however there will be occasions where approximately 35 parking spaces will be out of service or partially blocked during various phases of this project. At some period single lanes to the I-5 on ramps may be closed, however there will always be one lane open to each on ramp to both I-5 north and south.

In the event you find no parking spaces available at the Sacramento Valley Station lot, the City of Sacramento Parking Facilities Department has provided information on the following parking alternatives:

Additional parking is available at the City’s Old Sacramento Parking Garage located at the corner of 2nd and I Streets. Pedestrian access from the garage is available by using the entrance furthest West. The City offers parking discounts at this garage for passengers.
