Connecting Bus Service to/from Lake Tahoe Area Will Be Back to Normal on Tuesday, January 8

With a break in the winter weather, connecting bus service to/from Reno and South Lake Tahoe will be restored to normal on Tuesday, January 8. We will be monitoring conditions throughout the week, however and updating this page as needed.

Winter weather conditions continue to hamper travel to and from the Lake Tahoe area. 

On Monday, January 7, connecting bus service between Sacramento and Reno and between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe will be modified (weather permitting) on as follows:

Eastbound Service Between Sacramento and Reno:

  • Bus 3534 connecting from Train 532 will make stops at Roseville, Rocklin, and Auburn, and will attempt to continue on to Reno with stops in Colfax and Truckee.
  • Bus 3524 connecting from Train 524will be suspended east of Auburn; bus will only make stops at Roseville, Rocklin, and Auburn.
  • Bus 3528 connecting from Train 528 will be suspended east of Auburn; bus will only make stops at Roseville, Rocklin, and Auburn.

Westbound Service Between Reno and Sacramento:

  • Bus 3537 connecting to Train 537will be suspended from Reno to Colfax; bus will only make stops between Auburn and Sacramento.
  • Bus 3543 connecting to Train 543will be suspended from Reno to Colfax; bus will only make stops between Auburn and Sacramento.
  • Bus 3549 connecting to Train 549will be suspended from Reno to Colfax; bus will only make stops between Auburn and Sacramento.

Eastbound Service Between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe:

  • Bus 3424 connecting from Train 524 will only provide service to Placerville; all stops east of Placerville are suspended.

Westbound Service Between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe:

  • Bus 3447 connecting to Train 547 will attempt to make all stops between South Lake Tahoe and Sacramento.

Winter weather conditions continue in the Sierra Nevada. Some connecting bus service to and from the Lake Tahoe area will resume on Sunday, January 6, but has been modified. Please note that conditions are changing rapidly. The bus operations team is constantly monitoring the situation to adjust service as needed, and not all of these adjustments may be reflected right away in the below information.

The following buses will continue to only serve stops between Sacramento and Auburn; stops between Colfax and Reno remain closed:

  • Bus 3543 
  • Bus 3599 
  • Bus 3574 
  • Bus 3534  

Bus 3537 connecting to westbound Train 737 will operate with extra coverage, as follows:

  • 2 buses covering Reno to Colfax 
  • 1 bus covering Auburn to Sacramento

Bus 3578 connecting from Train 728 will also operate with extra coverage as follows:

  • 1 bus covering Sacramento to Auburn
  • 2 buses covering Colfax to Sparks

The following buses will operate as scheduled (but with possible delays) between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe/Stateline. (Please note that as conditions change on Highway 50, bus service could be suspended east of Placerville at any time.)

  • Bus 3474 connecting from eastbound Train 720
  • Bus 3447 connecting to westbound Train 747

At this time, service is scheduled at all stops on Monday, January 7; however, we will be monitoring the weather situation and will update this page later on Sunday if Monday service needs to be adjusted or cancelled.

Due to winter storm conditions in the Sierra Nevada/Lake Tahoe region, on Saturday, January 5, 2019, the following connecting bus service has been cancelled:

  • All stops between Colfax and Reno (including Truckee)
  • All stops between South Lake Tahoe and Stateline

Connecting buses will provide service between Sacramento and Auburn (including Roseville and Rocklin), and between Sacramento and Placerville.

Service at all stops on Sunday, January 6 is still scheduled; however, we will be monitoring the situation and will update this page later on Saturday if Sunday service needs to be cancelled as well.
