Busier Trains Expected on Capitol Corridor Sunday, September 14 For Raider and Niner Football Games

Philip Krayna News Archive, Service Alerts

On Sunday, September 14, both Bay Area football teams will be playing their first regular-season home games, which means we’ll be seeing a lot of Bay Area pride on the trains! In anticipation of more people using Capitol Corridor, we’re pleased to announce that we’ll be adding extra capacity to the most popular trains for both games.

To avoid lines at the station, we encourage you to purchase your tickets online ahead of time. You can print your ticket out at home or pull up the ticket on your smartphone to present to the conductor.

The Raider game starts at 1:25 p.m. at O.co Coliseum, and kickoff for the Niners is at 5:30 p.m. at Levi’s Stadium. Both venues are an easy 5-minute walk to the Oakland Coliseum and Santa Clara/Great America stations respectively. And don’t forget—you can save 25% on a train ticket if you travel to either of the games on Capitol Corridor, not only this Sunday but for all home games!

For Niner fans, please keep in mind that the last eastbound train departing the Santa Clara/Great America station will leave promptly at 9:24 p.m. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to catch it; the train will not wait, and there will be no later trains added.

For all other Capitol Corridor passengers this weekend, please be aware that the trains and parking lots will be busier than usual. Arrive early to find parking and catch your train on time. Also, please pay particular attention to safety by staying behind the yellow line while waiting for the train at the station platform, remaining patient, and avoiding crowding doors when boarding and getting off the train.
