Rail Cars Returning from Southern California

We are happy to report that after almost two weeks on the Pacific Surfliner route, eight rail cars and three locomotives from the Northern California intercity passenger rail fleet are headed back to Northern California and will return to service on the Capitol Corridor and San Joaquins by the end of January. The cars were transferred to Southern California earlier this month to help the Pacific Surfliner accommodate passengers needing to travel between Santa Barbara and Ventura during the closure of Highway 101 in the wake of devastating mud slides. We are proud to have had the opportunity to assist our friends and colleagues to the south, and are grateful to all of our riders for their patience and support during this period with fewer cars on the Capitol Corridor. Thank you!

FanFest 2018

Oakland A’s FanFest

This Saturday, January 27, the Oakland A’s will be hosting their annual FanFest from 11am to 2pm in Jack London Square. Start the celebration early and avoid traffic by taking the train to the festivities, which are just steps from the station. And, if you’re on Train 727 leaving Sacramento at 8:10am, you’ll be able to meet A’s alum, Vida Blue. He’ll be on board with members of the Oakland Athletics Booster Club, welcoming fans and signing autographs.

Tulipmania

Tulipmania at Pier 39

While it is mid-winter, that doesn’t mean you can’t start enjoying the colors of spring. Mark your calendars for February 10, when beautiful blooming tulips burst at San Francisco’s PIER 39 during Tulipmania. Between February 10 and 18, experience floral beauty on a guided tour of the 39,000 flowers. You can also take part in the Tulipmania photo contest by using #tulipmania when you post your shots!

CA Everyday Discounts

You may have heard that Amtrak has reduced, and in some cases eliminated, a number of their longstanding everyday discounts. Not to worry, the Capitol Corridor, along with our California rail partners, the San Joaquins and the Pacific Surfliner, is now offering California Everyday Discounts for seniors, students, and passengers with disability. We want to make sure that the Capitol Corridor remains affordable and accessible to the people in the communities we serve.

In order to take advantage of these savings, passengers must book through the Capitol Corridor website and use a special promotion code.
