Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors for winning their third NBA Championship in four seasons! On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, the Golden State Warriors and the City of Oakland will host a victory celebration starting at 11am. This latest party will be a bit different from years past because there will not be a post-parade rally at Lake Merritt. The Capitol Corridor welcomes all fans who want to travel to Oakland by train to participate in the festivities!
Capitol Corridor Service
The Capitol Corridor will operate according to the regular weekday schedule, and no extra service will be added on Tuesday, June 12. Be sure to check our website for ticket and fare information, as well fare discounts. If you need assistance with trip planning or have any questions or concerns, please call 877-9-RIDECC (877-974-3322). The Capitol Corridor Transit Information Center is available from 8am to 6pm, Monday through Friday.
Getting to the Festivities
The parade will begin on Broadway at 11th Street, turning right on 20th Street, turning right on Harrison to 19th Street, then right on Lakeside Drive, ending on Oak and 13th Street. Event details and a parade map can be found here.
To reach the celebration, passengers can take the Capitol Corridor train directly to the Jack London Square Station (2nd & Alice) and walk about 15 minutes to the parade area.
Fans can also take the Capitol Corridor to either the Richmond Station or Oakland Coliseum Station and transfer to Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) to ride directly to the 19th St. or 12th St. BART stations located along Broadway in downtown Oakland. Be prepared for HUGE crowds on BART; read information about their service and tips for riding.
To avoid long lines at the station to purchase BART tickets (as well as the $.50 surcharge for BART paper tickets), we highly recommend you buy a Clipper card on board the Capitol Corridor train (for sale in the Cafe Car) to pay your BART fare. In addition to avoiding the lines, you will save $3 because the Capitol Corridor waives the $3 new Clipper card fee. If you already have a Clipper card, please make sure you have adequate cash loaded on it to cover your round trip, and please note that the Capitol Corridor cannot load cash onto existing Clipper cards. The round-trip BART fare (using Clipper) from Richmond to either of the two downtown Oakland stations is $5.90, and from Oakland Coliseum, the round-trip fare is $4.00.
